Rainforests are home: for people, birds, animals, trees. When they are destroyed, it's a loss felt far beyond the confines of land boundaries and politics.
June 22 is World Rainforest Day, a day when we celebrate Pacific rainforests and all they have to offer — food, clean water, medicines and other resources for Indigenous communities who have depended on rainforests for generations. A home for unique animals and plants, rich biodiversity critical for the health and wellbeing of all of us. Rainforests are also stores for vasts amounts of carbon, helping the world mitigate the impacts of climate change.
This photo essay showcases the glorious rainforests across Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji where Indigenous communities and local partners we work with continue to care for and protect the most magnificent ecosystems.
